How to pick lucky lottery numbers: Statistics or numerology?

There are many reasons why people play the lottery, but the most important is, of course, to win the jackpot. Despite the low chances of winning the jackpot, the tension and thrill that comes with playing the lottery is enough for many players.

But is there a way to increase your chances predicting the winning numbers? And what method are you going to use to pick yours?

There are those who bet on familiar numbers, such as important personal dates or previous winning numbers. And those who just don’t think about it and let the system generate a random sequence, or bet on the first digits that come up in their mind. But for some other people choosing a lotto number can be a difficult decision.

In all lotteries, it happens very often to see the same number drawn many times as a winner. May we call it a coincidence? Each draw is independent and not related to the previous ones, but statistics show that it is a reality: analyzing lotteries archives you can find numbers that are much more frequent than others. Though each game has its own pool, and a number that is ‘lucky’ in a determined lottery could even be one of the least frequent digits in another one. Studying the past results before playing could be helpful to define your strategy.

On the other hand, not everything is about stats. There is also a way to know which is your personal lucky number: a digit that is so connected with you that it can show aspects of yourself that you had no idea...

Most and least drawn numbers in the SuperEnalotto lottery

SuperEnalotto takes place in Italy three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. CET from December 3rd 1997. In order to win the jackpot, players have to match six main numbers ranging from 1 to 90. Moreover, a Jolly number is drawn from the remaining 84 balls to give any player matching five main  numbers a chance to increase the amount they win.

Another possibility offered by SuperEnalotto is to choose a further number, called SuperStar, giving you more chances to win bigger prizes. The SuperStar is drawn from a separate ball machine, again between 1 and 90; this means that you can select the same number as both a main number and the SuperStar.

So, if you pay a small additional fee to have the SuperStar option added to your ticket is guaranteed to win a prize as long as your SuperStar number is drawn, otherwise you must match at least two main numbers to grab a cash reward.

The odds of winning the SuperEnalotto jackpot are 1 in 622,614,630, with the overall odds of winning any prize being 1 in 16 (when playing the SuperStar option).

SuperEnalotto ensures a minimum jackpot of €2 million. However, after a jackpot has been won, the following one is usually a much larger amount and It does not have a jackpot limit. Therefore, the jackpot prize can continue to increase in size until someone correctly matches all six main numbers drawn.

Now, let's have a look at the statistics about the most and least drawn numbers in the SuperEnalotto history.

Numerology: Your birthday can reveal your personality and lucky number

Besides the statistics, there are more ways to identify your lucky numbers. A simple calculation can let you know a digit that can be used as a personal lucky number and also show traits of your personality you weren’t aware of. This little-known metaphysical ‘science’, called Numerology, consists of identifying the numbers that rule our lives and use them on our benefit. It’s very easy to discover it, you only have to add all the digits of your birth date and if the result is a greater number than 9, you must sum the two ciphers to obtain one single number from 1 to 9.

These are the main characteristics of each number:

  • 1 is the leader

  • 2 is a mediator

  • 3 belongs to the communicator

  • 4 represents the masterful

  • 5 is for the adventurous

  • 6 is an educator

  • 7 belongs to the spiritual

  • 8 is the executive

  • 9 represents the humanitarian

And this is how you calculate your life number; for example, if your birthday is on August 31st 1992 (31-08-1992), the calculation would be this:

3+1+8+1+9+9+2= 33

3+3= 6

Your life path number is 6.

There are people who strongly believe in this calculation and use it also in some of their life decisions, like choosing dates to travel, getting married or... picking numbers to play the lottery. But, what happens if your life path number is one of the least common lotto numbers according to statistics? Now the decision is up to you; what strategy do you think would change your life?
